Inspiration is one of those quiet gifts from God that often arrives when we’re not looking for it. We chase it, strain for it, try to force it into our schedule, but true inspiration rarely bows to our deadlines. Instead, it flows from the places where God is already speaking—Scripture, prayer, creation, and the everyday lives of the people around us. When we slow down long enough to listen, we discover that inspiration isn’t rare at all. It’s constant. We just move too fast to notice it.

Like seeing a dandelion push through the concrete in a big city.

For the Christian, inspiration begins with the Word. Not because the Bible is merely a book of ideas, but because it is living and active. When you sit with Scripture, you’re not mining for quotes—you’re meeting the Author. A single verse can ignite a sermon, a study, a chapter, or a moment of clarity that reshapes your entire day. If you feel empty, start there. Let God speak first.

Prayer is another well of inspiration, not because we always hear something dramatic, but because prayer aligns our heart with God’s heart. Inspiration grows naturally in a life that stays close to Him. Even silence in prayer is fertile ground; God often plants seeds we won’t recognize until later.

Creation also carries inspiration in its bones. A sunrise, a quiet field, the sound of rain—these are reminders that God is still creating, still sustaining, still speaking through the world He made. Sometimes stepping outside is enough to reset your spirit.

And finally, inspiration comes through people. A conversation, a testimony, a struggle, a blessing—God uses the lives of others to stir something in us. Ministry itself is a constant stream of inspiration if we pay attention.

When you feel dry, don’t panic. Slow down. Open the Word. Pray. Step outside. Listen to others. Or just sit and be still in meditation.

Inspiration isn’t hiding. It’s waiting.
